You’re Stuck in a Pattern You Don’t Know How to Fix.

You still care about each other—but lately, it feels like you're speaking different languages with escalations and shut-downs.

You fight more often where one of you pulls away while the other pushes hard or with anger for connection.
Sometimes it feels like everything leads to an argument… or worse, cold silence.

You’re not alone. These painful patterns happen when emotional needs go unheard. The good news?

It’s not about who’s right or wrong. It’s about how you’re both protecting your pain and how you can heal the pain with EFT.

With the right support, you can learn how to reach for each other instead of retreat.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Emotionally Focused Therapy is one of the most effective, research-based approaches for relationship repair and reconnection.

Rather than just teaching communication tips, EFT goes deeper—helping you understand and heal the root of your disconnection by focusing on your attachment bond and strengthening it together.

Couples often say things like:
  • “I finally feel seen and heard.”
  • “We’ve never talked this deeply before.”
  • “We understand each other in new ways.”

You can, too.

Emotional Disconnection & Reestablishing Intimacy

If your relationship feels more like coexisting than connecting, you may be stuck in a painful negative cycle. It turns out there is not only a negative Emotional Cycle but also a negative Intimacy Cycle—and the two often feed off each other, making connection harder and harder.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy helps partners name what’s really happening underneath the silence, distance, or tension—and guides you back to emotional closeness.

Whether you're in year 2 or year 20+, it's never too late to reconnect. If you're wondering how to feel close to your partner again, EFT provides a path out of emotional disconnection and toward safety and intimacy.

Anger, Shutdowns & Escalating Conflict

When every disagreement turns into a blow-up—or one partner shuts down completely—it’s exhausting and emotionally draining.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy helps you recognize these reactive cycles, slow things down, and create safer ways to express what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Anger is often a protest for connection—but it pushes your partner away. EFT helps you move beneath the anger or withdrawal so both partners can finally feel heard, seen, and safe.

If you're struggling with anger in your relationship or want to stop fighting in your marriage, EFT offers a framework for conflict resolution that brings you back together.

PTSD, Trauma & High-Stress Roles

When one or both partners carry trauma—especially in military, medical, or first responder roles—emotional connection can feel dangerous, even when it’s deeply desired.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy recognizes that you’re not unloving—you’ve just learned to protect yourself in order to survive.

EFT helps couples slowly build emotional safety, regulate together, and reconnect without fear.

Whether you're facing PTSD and marriage challenges, or searching for trauma-informed couples therapy, EFT provides a grounded, compassionate approach—especially for military couples and those in high-stress caregiving roles.

Planning for forever? Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy helps couples build emotional security and deepen connection before major transitions like marriage or long-term partnership.

EFT explores communication styles, emotional needs, attachment patterns, and family dynamics—so you don’t just prepare for a wedding, you prepare for a lifetime.

Understanding how you connect—and how you lose each other in moments of stress—can save you years of miscommunication and conflict. EFT for engaged couples sets the stage for secure, connected relationships from the very beginning.

Whether you're navigating couples therapy after cheating or figuring out how to rebuild trust after an affair, EFT gives couples the tools to reconnect and rebuild—sometimes even stronger than before.

I feel most people want a couples therapist that will be a third party who will tell one partner they’re right and the other one they’re wrong. At least that’s what I was hoping for when starting couples counseling. Carol did not do this. Instead of worrying about who was right or wrong she helped us stop and actually listen to what each other was trying to say. And VALUE it. With being parents and full time working adults, I would have never thought we could have found time to attend counseling. And if we hadn’t, our marriage would have likely failed. Being able to do online sessions in the privacy of our home allowed the flexibility to really make therapy work on our time. Carol has been amazing for our marriage and we are so grateful to have found her.

Meet Your Therapist: Carol Corcoran, LMFT, Certified EFT Therapist

I’m Carol—a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Certified EFT Provider, and someone who understands these struggles not just professionally, but personally.

As a former active-duty military member and the wife of a retired U.S.M.C. Lieutenant Colonel, I know how hard it can be to stay connected when life is full of transitions, trauma, and emotional shutdown. I have also been a civilian wife for over 20 years and know the difference between the two worlds. My husband and I have been married for over 40 years, and EFT has played a major role in helping us grow together—not apart.

Now, I help other couples find that same path forward—with honesty, empathy, and evidence-based care. One of the greatest gifts I can give couples is what I have with my husband, the gift of love.

📍 Licensed in Maryland, Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado, and Virginia

We started seeing Carol right before Covid shut down the world. I openly tell people she saved my marriage and I recommend her to anyone who is struggling. I know we put in the work too, but she helped us communicate effectively and dig deep to see what was actually causing the disagreements. We are better, not only for each other, but for our children too. We cannot say enough good things about her!
