While Carol Corcoran, LCMFT, Certified EFT Therapist has worked extensively with teens and children, she has shifted her focus to working with the parental dyad first when family dynamics become challenging.  The parents is so powerful in a child's life and when they are not united, kids can fall through the cracks or become pulled in the middle.  Children look to their parents for comfort and security and when they see their parents arguing they don't feel safe, and many times fear the negative cycles will become worse.  

Kids also look to their parents to understand what relationships look like and make decisions about their future relationships based on what they see with mom and dad, which isn't always good or healthy. The negative interactional patterns parents become stuck in spill out onto their kids and eventually become so repetitive even the kids know when it is happening and it hurts them too.

Helping adult siblings reconnect and heal old wounds is another emerging area of family counseling  where Carol has been instrumental in helping siblings reattachment and build more healthy, loving, attached relationships .
