Meet Carol H. Corcoran, LCMFT, LMFTCertified Emotionally Focused Therapist | 30+ Years of Experience | Licensed in AZ, CA, MD, CO, NV, VA with a counseling compact for telehealth in Florida.
Carol is passionate about helping partners connect at a deep and meaningful level. This is a sacred process and journey in helping partners connect with their own experience and then share those depths with the ones they love. As a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist and Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years, she loves helping couples move from disconnection to deep connection. Her work is grounded in the evidence based science of attachment of Dr. Susan Johnson and Dr. John Bowlby. Guided by compassion, clarity, and a belief in the healing power of safe, secure relationships Carol combines science and art to restore loving connections. Carol holds licenses in multiple states—including Arizona, California, Colorado, Maryland, Nevada, and Virginia; with a counseling compact for telehealth in Florida—and is one of the highest-rated Marriage and Family Therapists in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, with over 71 five-star reviews from clients on Healthgrades.com |
Throughout her career, Carol has worked in diverse clinical settings and pursued advanced training in multiple modalities, including EMDR, Ego State Therapy, Systems Therapy, and CBT. But her passion has always centered on relationships. In 2003, she began training under Dr. Sue Johnson, founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and has been using EFT ever since to guide couples through healing, reconnection, and lasting change.
As a Certified EFT Therapist, Carol uses the 3-stage, 9-step EFT model to help couples move beyond surface-level communication and into emotionally safe, deeply connected territory. Her approach is nurturing and structured—offering clients a steady presence while they do the hard work of building trust and intimacy.
Carol is also a Lifetime Clinical Member of the International Centre for Excellence in EFT (ICEEFT), a long-standing Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and a 30 year member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Beyond her credentials, Carol brings real-life understanding to her work. She and her husband—a retired U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel—have been married for 41 years and have personally experienced the benefits of Emotionally Focused Therapy in their own journey. While no marriage is perfect, Carol believes that with support and intention, connection is always possible. She wants to give to others what she shares with her hubby.
